When I moved from the Midwest to Southwest Florida, I had no idea what to expect when it came to hurricanes, torrential rain, and sudden power outages. In the Midwest, storms usually meant snow or wind — but here, I quickly learned that losing power wasn’t rare. It was something you had to be ready for.
The first time the power went out during a storm, I was completely unprepared. No lights. No internet. No way to keep food cold or devices charged. I realized I needed reliable backup power — fast. But when I started searching, it got overwhelming: gas vs. solar? Wattage? Inverters? Hookups?
That’s when I decided to create GuardMyPower.com — to help people like me (and maybe like you) understand backup power in simple, practical terms.
